Poetry Sources

Thank Goodness It’s Grammar: Students completed the 3-16 TGIG, and I checked answers in class. If you missed it, write down your answers by Thursday, March 17th.

Activity: Today, students had to show completed Guidelines for Reading a Poem based on your selection from the following three poems: either “Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard” by Thomas Gray, “Ode on a Grecian Urn” by John Keats, and “The Hollow Men” by TS Eliot. We also reviewed the TPCASTT homework (due tomorrow — Thursday, March 17th) that I assigned yesterday. Finally, students received research sources on selected poems. Here’s what you need . . .

  • “Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard”
  • “Ode on a Grecian Urn”
  • “The Hollow Men”

Read your sources (they’re lengthy, I know) by Monday, March 28th.

Homework: In addition to all this, you are responsible for finding at least one more source for which to write your paper (by Monday, March 28th). See the syllabus for specifics on the essay you’re writing, and look back at the Poetry Essay Prompt.
